Happy birthday Big Ang: She Would Have Been 56 Today, Fans Celebrate Her Memory

If Big Ang were still alive today, she’d be 56 and she’d be having one heck of a party. Fans, friends and family are taking the day to celebrate the bombastic, beloved “Mob Wives” star who died in February from stage four cancer.

Here on Staten Island, there will be a small gathering at the Funkey Monkey on 1205 Forest Avenue starting at 8 p.m. Ang worked at the bar when it was called the Drunken Monkey, which is where she was discovered for “Mob Wives” in 2011.

And on July 16, there will be a disco party featuring music and dancing at Snug Harbor, with profits going to three local nonprofits. Entertainers include Lime, Reina, Carol Douglas, Carol Williams, Denise Montana, Musique, Jay of Machine, The Ladies of Skyy, Double Exposure and Carl Carlton.

The event from 6 to 10 p.m. costs $30 and tickets can be purchased here or at the door.

“She loved having a party, so I think she would really love everything about this one,” said her daughter Raquel Donofrio, her daughter who lives in Ward Hill.

Today, her friend, Staten Island entertainer Vincent Medugno shared a touching tribute on Instagram, remembering the “bright light” that followed Ang wherever she went.

“Today is definitely a hard day, but will not be a sad day for me,” he wrote. “Though I miss you, I will play your music, and think great thoughts. Today will be a day to laugh in reminiscing certain moments and memories as well. I have enough of you to last an entire lifetime.”

Here’s how fans and loved ones remembered Ang on her special day.
